Entry Into 2011 And Chocolate

January 2, 2011 by libertatemamo 4 Comments

The two of us dolled up for New Year's Eve

So, we made it to 2011! We celebrated the momentous occasion in our RV with friends and family, hats, champagne and chocolate. In other words, all the things that make life worth living. Paul’s dad rolled up his RV next to ours, his niece joined us and we invited Bob…a retired and solo-RVer we met next door. Between the 6 of us we crammed into our rig, feasted on rib roast and pommes dauphinoises (potatoes taste soooo much better a la Français, don’t you know) and finished off the fine event with my own “death-by-chocolate” flourless chocolate cake.

Chocolate decadence of the best kind...

Now the latter deserves a little additional mention so you may fully appreciate the deliciousness of the event. This smooth, dark belle takes 5 full bars of dark chocolate to make, whipped into a dreamy frenzy with butter and expresso, and melts in your mouth like Nectar of the Gods. Should you decide to make it yourself the recipe is here (*substitute the water for espresso) and you can honestly advertize it as low-sugar and keep everyone in chocolate-induced blissful ignorance, as long as you don’t mention any other macro-nutrients.

Despite a heavy post-food-induced coma we rallied ourselves with wine and games, and defeated the odds to make it into 2011 awake. So, we start the New Year with great expectations and excitement for all that is to come. After all if you start off with chocolate, everything else is probably going to turn out all right.
