Campground Video – Bullards Beach State Park, Bandon, OR

May 7, 2016 by libertatemamo 17 Comments

Yet another short and quick one today. Every time we come to Bandon our preferred camping spot is always Bullards Beach State Park. It’s a lovely state park in a great location close to town with lots of green & trails. PLUS there’s a lighthouse (whooo hooo)! It’s a popular spot (so plan to book ahead if you want to come here), but it’s well worth the stop and a place you’ll want to revisit once you’ve been here.

We’ve got a full written review HERE, but for those who want to see all the juicy details in video, feel free to click on our ~8 min video overview. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxWvaIIkQlM

Thank you for these videos. They are so helpful, as to read about it is way different than actually seeing it!!

Loved the fun and “breezy” ending!

Fun video and very! helpful. Quality of the video is good. Are you using your cell phone? I have read your standard review of this spot, but the video definitely adds to that. I went to YouTube after I watched the video so I could give you a thumbs up and subscribe.

Thanks! Yes, we’re just using the phone (Paul’s iPhone6). We tried various cameras, but the phone really gave us the best result. We’ve bought a little stick to hold it with, but that’s about it.

Loved seeing the three of you at Bullards… even if it wasn’t in person! I haven’t been paying much attention to the mosquito question (with the focus shifting down south), but I thought they had tamed the mosquito problem after that first year when the drainage to the newly recreated marsh hadn’t been refined or perfected.

I wish you had called before getting to Blanco, you could have swung up to see what we’re up to… but perhaps not a place to go with the Beast. 😉

We saw the very first mosquitoes at Bullards just last week while we were there. I don’t know if the situation has improved since the previous years, but we definitely felt them on calm days.

And yeah, I’m sorry we didn’t call you ahead of time 🙁 This coastal visit was all very last-minute, especially after we had to change all our Spring plans for Paul’s accelerated trip home. Under our original plans we would have come here later.

I’m really enjoying the video additions to your posts. Thanks!
I have a rookie question about your comments on the 50 amp hookups. Generally, when a site is 50 amp, or being upgraded to 50 amp, does it also have or continue to have 30 amp service? I’m gearing up for a July start on the road in a truck camper with 30 amps and am wondering if I should be getting a 50 to 30 adapter.
By the way, I totally get your lighthouse obsession. My first trip is to the Atlantic Maritime Provinces (from Boston) where I plan on seeing many lighthouses. I’ve been to many of them in New England, especially in Maine, and also in Michigan where I grew up and is still “home”. I hope you and Paul are still able to visit there this year! Safe travels.

Most sites that offer 50 Amp will ALSO offer 30 Amp. In fact I can’t think of a single “50 Amp” spot we’ve been where we haven’t seen both connections. In Bullards every site that has 50 Amp has both.

Oh and lighthouses in the NE…Oh YES!!! We’ve yet to go, but that’s going to be a key part of our travels when we do.

I think your new videos are great. We also have been bitten by the lighthouse bug. We have been following your post for quite some time, and really enjoy it. Finally next month we start full timing ourselves, after years of dreaming. I hope it works out or I’m sure I will be single. Dennis

When Paul almost lost his hat, it reminded me of my brother losing the umbrella on top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park when I was young. It was raining and windy on top of Cadillac Mountain that day so that was why my brother opened up the umbrella. We went back on another day when it wasn’t so stormy out. So Paul was lucky that he didn’t lose his hat.

Great fun, and very good information as always. We stayed in C loop last summer based on your original review. We loved it! Definitely one of our favorite parks of the whole summer. Loving the videos!

Is it possible to put solar panels over a skylight? I ask this since that is standard on one of the travel trailers that I saw online that otherwise I might like it. I don’t want that many obstacles on the roof.

You’d need to build some kind of rack to raise it above the skylight, but YES it’s possible. I’ve seen folks with full roof-racks that raise their solar panels above vents, air-conditioners…you-name-it.

Thanks for the prompt reply back as I am still learning things by researching online and reading books. I take notes so I won’t forget things that I have learned as my mail forwarding companies link that went bad. So I researched the mail forwarding companies from certain states. I just finished up my second book last week and am expecting the third later this week.

Thank you so much for all of your efforts.

Your 2012 review showed 2 bars of 4g for Verizon and att. Was that still true in 2016?
    Thank you!
