Campground Video – Cape Disappointment State Park, Ilwaco, WA

July 5, 2016 by libertatemamo 9 Comments

Before we flew the coop from Cape D we recorded a quick 10-min video overview of the campground. As you already know we LOVE this area and stay here every chance we get. We first camped here in 2013, and liked it so much we’ve come back every year since as lighthouse volunteers. From awesome beer to fabulous towns and cool peninsulas this place really has it all.

If you prefer to read a detailed written version you can see our original (updated) review HERE, but otherwise feel free to fly with us in living, moving color through the video. Lots of bloopers in this one, so be prepared 🙂

Sooo good to see you two and even a glimpse of Polly. Even though I’ve read about her surgery, it was a bit of a shock to see her on a leash. 🙂

Sorry we didn’t get a chance to connect at all while you were here on the coast. Perhaps next year? Happy trails as you head for Idaho (?) Do give us an occasional report on how Polly is doing. Hugs to both of you and all the Paws.

Yeah, poor doggie has had to endure the leash for the past month, and likely for at least another 4-6 weeks after today. We just can’t let her run or jump at all. I’ll definitely be giving updates on the rehab as we go along. Hoping and crossing all paws for a complete recovery.

Enjoy your summer on the coast. I’ll be drooling over your pics and posts as we head east.

Love your videos! You two are so cute to watch. I want to be there. I travel to Seattle every couple of months to visit my son. I love Seattle and now I want to visit Cape Disappointment. Looks beautiful.
Hope you enjoy Idaho as much as the Washington coast. Best of luck to Polly and her rehab.
Can’t wait to read your next review.

Glad you enjoy the videos 🙂 We keep them casual, so hopefully most folks like that.

We love Cape Disappointment State Park. We actually prefer the camping circle to the south of site 18 and when we go with our daughter who likes the yurts we stay over in the 61 ish circle. The beach is great, the light houses are great, there is really nothing there to dislike as long as you like the rain. But if you get a sunny day there is nothing more beautiful

You definitely do get some crazy weather out here. Summers are mostly nice (we only had a few days of intermittent wetness in June), but you can never completely dismiss the rain. Fog is common too. Plus wind. It’s a crazy place.

Well presented. Young and foolish we bought a Southwind in 1978 and camped there at leat 10 weekends/yr when no reservations wear needed. We loved the outer loops where the kids could climb the rocks. Safety, what safet?. Then along came little league baseball, soccer, etc. Ahh thanks triggering the memories.

Oh – it is beautiful and looks so cool as I swelter in Iowa in July.
Thank you for sharing a wonderful camp ground to add to our list of travel plans as we get oh so close to selling a home and begin the full-time adventure.

There are some amazing beaches at Cape Disappointment. We normally stay in Long Beach and ride the trail to the park. So beautiful and relaxing. Can’t wait till next summer and we can head back.

One day we hope to try our hand at being a volunteer at one of the Washington State Parks.
