Doggie Happy Days In Anza Borrego

I think I have a dog in my camera. Lewis gets up close & personal

So we’ve not exactly been living a life of hardship at our new boondocking site. In fact I’ll go ahead and admit that we’ve been downright lazy. Sometimes a place just calls for it…things are so relaxing, so inviting, so very naturally pretty that you really don’t feel the need to go anywhere else. So we’ve just been hanging around and admiring the fabulous view at our site, prospecting the gazillions of interesting dirt roads around the valley on our bikes and letting both people and impressions come our way…..oh, and dogs too. In fact if there’s one thing that’s been happening out here in the boonies it’s that Polly has been having a most social time of it.

Now, that’s a fine lookin’ rig in a fine lookin’ spot

Is a photo really necessary? Spike & Bridget reluctantly pose for the camera

It all started with a little teaser I put in the blog a few days ago. When we arrived at Borrego Springs on Monday we  spotted a rather familiar white rig with a sexy new antenna just a ways down the hill from us. Yup, it was RV Sue And Her Canine Crew snuggled into a rather nice and private spot in the valley. The next day we meandered on down to see her and were greeted in grand style by Bridget and Spike and invited for a sit-down and a good chat. The three doggies did their respective sniff-hellos and hung out in the shade while Sue and I chin-wagged about blogging, RVing and life in general . She’s been exploring the cool metal sculptures around Borrego Springs (just like we did last year) and has been totally captivated by them. In fact she’s managed to find many that I’ve never seen. Such a lovely and down-to-earth gal and it was just the kind of relaxing afternoon I like. Oh, and her new antenna set-up IS really, really cool.

But that’s not all the doggie business we’ve been up to. As well as making pals with our neighbors, our buddies from Desert Hot Springs Sue and Dave made it down here and came over for a happy hour and all-out doggie play. They
are confirmed pooch-lovers and have 2 black dogs, Lewis and Sasha, both lovely doggies. Lewis is about Polly’s age and the two are firm and fast playmates. In fact most of their action is so fast I can’t even catch it on the camera. While the dogs got serious with play we shared some excellent rum & cokes and enjoyed the sunset. As we were hanging out we even had a visit from another set of blog readers John and Pam who had come out from San Diego for a day visit to the area and spotted our rig in the desert. Didn’t I tell you this RVing business is seriously social stuff?

We’ll be seeing Sue & Dave again when Paul breaks out the smoker later this week-end, so this dog story is not even close to over. AND of course we’ll be continuing with our bike prospecting & sunset views. If we get the urge we may, may even do some more extensive sightseeing (there’s just no tellin’ what might happen). Either way one thing is clear…Doggie Happy Days are here to stay 🙂

A most unflattering shot of sweet Lewis, but very accurate! Congratulations, you are the only person that managed to get a picture of me from the front….We all really enjoyed our afternoon together and are really looking forward to those legendary ribs…..

Hehe…you know I thought that shot of Lewis was the cutest altho’ he is rather more handsome without his tongue hanging into the camera lens. See ya later this week.

Hope you get to spend more time with Pam and John. They are wonderful people. I told her how we were both at the Farmer’s Market in Eugene on the same day and didn’t even know it. Dang the bad luck.

Love your site. Don’t think we would be leaving anytime soon with a view like that.

We may well see them again in San Diego. Looks like we’re all spending Christmas there this year. There’s at least 6 different RV couples I know in the area, so expect it to be a rockin’ social time.

What’s with my crew? They look tortured. Gee, would it kill them to make happy for the camera? Nice photos overall… I didn’t realize my new antenna is sexy, but now that you mention it, it is pretty hot.

I know…it’s simply too funny. BOTH of them turned away the very moment I took the shot. And as for the antenna, being a long-time techno geek I can definitely say that tech stuff is sexy 🙂

We are so excited to spend two days boondocking while we wait to get into the state park after our Christmas in Huntington Beach. Thanks for sharing your site with all of us and your enthusiasm for boondocking. The sunset pictures are amazing!

Everytime Murlene and I read your new blog writing we
get more and more jealous. We need to get this house
on the market and sold. I am getting tired of paint rooms
and want a job like Paul’s ” watching the sun come up
and going down”. I’d probably have to do some work
like taking picture which I can handle.
Went to Red Bay AL last week for a plant tour of the Tiffin
MH. Also test drove a used Allegro Bus this week so at
least we’re thinking about our dreams.

Well, here’s hoping you manage to get on the road soon! The Allegro Bus is a nice rig. I can totally see fulltiming in that.

    Hi Nina,
Any RVers who say they just can’t meet anyone and feel isolated should take a lesson from you and Paul. I think it’s amazing how you attract new friends. And then those friends have the option to become friends through your blog. Let us know if you plan a get-together of your RV buddies in the San Diego area and count us in. We’ll be here until Dec 21 or 22, and then back on Jan 9. Won’t be boondocking in Borrego until February. Say hi to Paul for us.

Nothing like some doggie visitors to make your stay complete! This place has been on our list of places to go ever since you first blogged about it. After seeing your lastest pics (love the panoramic shot) I’m even more excited to check it out.

I definitely recommend this place as a stop-over. In fact everytime I come here I’m always bummed we’re not spending longer. Plan for at least 2 weeks in the area if you have the time. SOooooo much to see and do here.
