Want To Learn More About RVing in Europe? I’ve Got Some Links For You!

October 9, 2019 by libertatemamo 11 Comments

It’s been just over a year and a half since we left the USA to try our hand at RVing around Europe.

It seems crazy long ago, yet it also seems like yesterday and we’ve learned a ton in that time (or at least enough to be dangerous). So now that we have our European RV feet firmly in place I’m ready to share the love, and pass on as much of that info as possible to others who might share that same European RV dream. That’s always been my goal with the blog -> to share what we know so that we might inspire others along their own adventurous paths. Simple stuff, right?

To that end I’ve got a few exciting announcements (and some questions for my blog readers, at the bottom):

Escapees/Xscapers -> Article On European RVing

We’ve been Escapees members since we got on the road in 2010, and we’re still members today. They’re just a great organization that always work to bring RVers together and support them along the way. We’ve stayed at several of their parks, attended several of their events (e.g. Albuquerque Balloon Festival), and contributed to their magazine and blog. What can I say…we’re fans.

This past month I was honored to be featured in their Member newsletter “Let’s go wherever the RV can take us!” with my article Six Common Questions About RVing In Europe. It’s a short, useful intro to European RVing (or at least I like to think so), so if you’re curious click here and check it out!

Fulltime Freedom Week (FTFW) -> FREE Online Event, Nov 5-8

Like many RV things Fulltime Freedom Week started off as a breath of an idea by a few RVers a couple of years back, and has now grown to be a significant, annual event. It’s a super cool idea. Basically it’s a free online 4-day event hosting over 30 speakers, all real RVers, who share all kinds of useful and practical info about life on the road.

Several of the speakers are long-term RV experts (and now personal friends) who were part of our original inspiration over 9 years ago, when we decided to go on the road ourselves. Folks like Chris & Cherie from Technomadia, Amy Burkert from Go Pet Friendly, and Howard & Linda from RV Dreams. All massive inspirations for us, back in the day.

Also the topics covered will be expansive including everything from how to buy the right RV to boondocking, how to find remote work and community, budgeting, RVing with pets, and of course…{{{Drumroll}}}...RVing in Europe.

Yup this year for the first time, I’m super honored to be included on the list and will be contributing a video entirely about RVing in Europe including how to do it, how much it costs, what camping and RV’s are like on this side of the pond, and other juicy bits of info! 🙂

You can see the FULL schedule of speakers/events HERE (I will be on at ~5pm WED Nov 6th)

So, if you’ve ever thought about RVing but want to learn more, or you’re already RVing and want to expand your horizons I’m certain you’ll find something to inspire you here. Plus it could literally not be easier (or cheaper) to sign-up:

FREE PASS – If you just want to attend the event in real-time all you have to do is register online and it is completely FREE. You’ll get access to ALL the videos, every speaker & every topic as they are released (and up through the end of that day). There is zero obligation other than registering, and I did mention it’s FREE, right???

LONGER-TERM PASSES – If you don’t have time to view the videos while they are being uploaded or simply want to take your time (or perhaps even watch them more than once) then you have options to purchase either a 30-day pass ($29), an annual pass ($69) or a lifetime pass ($99) (Note/ these are all commission-based links, so if you do end up buying, I will receive a small (and much appreciated) commission). You can also just register for the free pass first, see how you like the content, and then just purchase or upgrade to a longer-term pass later. If you find the content useful (which I do believe you will), that’s something you can decide down the line.

So, with that all said I do hope you join me for the event and if you do I have a question for you….

Is there anything specific you’d like me to address in my FTFW video on Europe RVing? I’ve got a looong list of stuff I’m hoping to cover, but if you have something specific you’d like to hear about I’d looove to get your ideas in the comments below…

Great information, Nina! The RV Geeks, The Chouters and you were really helpful on our RVing trip across the UK and Ireland this last month. Everything went as smooth as silk. We didn’t even clip a mirror on the narrow roads!

One thing we noticed as a huge diffference from the US. Drivers, for the most part, are POLITE in the UK and Ireland. Oh, could we learn from them!

I’m so glad! I’ll be putting together a blog and resource link for Europe soon (I’m way overdue for it), and all those folks will be on it.

It’s been fun to read your latest posts on Scotland too. I travelled around there many years ago, but have yet to take Paul and the RV. So glad you enjoyed your trip.

So glad you’re joining us on FTFW! Super exciting!

You’re probably already planning to include (cuz you’re super thorough) – but I’d love to know more about renting RVs in Europe. How practical is it? How hard is it to drive a manual transmission mini-beast?

We are seniors who would love to RV in Europe for an extended period (several months to a year), but are concerned about how to obtain health insurance and prescription drugs. Can you address that topic?

What an excellent question Sue!! If I can’t fit it into the video I will definitely write about it.

We are seniors with big plans for next year, and there is an important question to resolve first; beyond the purchase price, is it more practical in Europe the motorhome, integrated or semi, or the travel trailer, caravan as they call it and a car that gives you the chance to visit towns without moving your home from the campground?
I would really appreciate an expert opinion on that. thanks

Absolutely! In fact one of the beauties of motorhome travel in Europe is there are so many places to stay within a rocks throw of the many historic towns, including Aires (free or semi-free), campgrounds, farms & wineries, and parking areas. We bring bicycles with us, which allows us to visit a small radius wherever we park, but typically it’s easy to walk or take a train (e.g. in bigger cities, like Paris) to see the local area.
